Canon EOS 1300D DSLR Camera A vital new media technology used within the construction of our production was the Canon EOS 1300D DSLR camera. We acquired the camera from the school's arts department, which had significantly better quality cameras due to the photography courses the department runs. We booked out the equipment on multiple occasions, this allowed us to film across various dates and refill any scenes with any errors or mishaps. By having virtually unrestricted access to a HD camera, this enabled us to construct a professional final product. This was because we could record all our desired camera shots, angles and movements alongside the tripod. The use of the camera was vital in portraying verisimilitude towards the audience through the use of a handheld shot. By using the Canon camera accompanied by the strap (pictured on the right) we could easily film the handheld shot. We had a vast response in terms of feedback to our production, ‘Love Me’. The majority of the reviews and feedback we received were positive but we still proceeded with minor changes to create two drafts before a final completed trailer. These drafts were the direct consequence of criticism left on our trailer or blog. I feel the feedback was vital in crafting our final trailer for ‘Love Me’, enabling us to strive for a well-rounded trailer, utilising conventions to maximise the standard outputted into our product. The feedback was grasped from a range of source, from classmates to teachers. Valuable feedback was received from Mr Noble, who is heavily involved with the film industry as well as teaching at the academy. Within my production ‘Love Me’, it was vital to portray the key conventions of the thriller genre. By utilising these conventions and creating the similarities with other texts within the genre, we could promote the production towards our target audience correctly. My three texts were aimed towards those ages 15-25, this was all highlighted from the fonts, colours and images I used across my blog. I felt the thrilling nature of the film was best fitted towards a younger audience, primarily teenagers and adolescents. The antagonist for my production, 'Love Me', featured on both my poster and magazine cover. The magazine cover was centred around Henry, as he was the main image of the magazine. Henry was pictured with a close up shot, featuring a direct gaze towards the audience. The strong stare that Henry gives into the lens connotes his male dominance within the film and the fear he inflicts upon his Rosey who he holds captive. Frame 1 My first frame for analysis is my film poster that I created for ‘Love Me’. This conveys the typical conventions for the thriller genre; this is highlighted by the colour scheme and main image. For example, the colour scheme is predominantly dark colours, with deep tones of red and black. These two colours are closely associated with darkness and evil, connoting the intentions of the antagonist. My main images and poster design were inspired by that of Knock Knock, selecting three images which directly refer to the narrative of the film. In my case, the images reveal the two main characters as well as the setting. This is very similar to that of Knock Knock, another thriller movie, in which the protagonist Keanu Reeves is depicted, similarly to Henry Dalrymple in ‘Love Me’. After research into the potential programs available to us, we opted to use Apple's iMovie instead of Adobe's Premiere Pro. There was a number of factors that contributed towards our final decision, but the most prominent was the ability to edit our film internally and externally of school. By using Premiere Pro, we could only edit during the school day upon one computer within the school.
